Corinthians draw 1-1 with Portuguesa

Corinthians were held to a 1-1 draw by Portuguesa on Sunday in the penultimate round of the Paulista State Championship. Portuguesa goalkeeper Glegler deflected in Fininho's cross to give Corinthians a first half lead, before Washington levelled for the visitors late on. Corinthians stay second in the standings, a point ahead of Santos but having played a game more, while Portuguesa slip down to 16th. Sao Paulo have already secured the championship. Santos have two games left and Corinthians one. Portuguesa have slipped down to 16th, just one place above the relegation zone. (AP)
