Buenos Aires:
Boca Juniors lost its second match of the season 1-0 to lowly Colon de Santa Fe in the Argentine first division on Sunday.
Colon, which had been in the relegation zone, earned its first win over Boca in nine years at Boca's famously difficult La Bombonera stadium.
Ivan Moreno y Fabianesi headed in the winner in the 82nd minute.
Boca was left sharing a piece of first place at 28 points after 14 rounds with Gimnasia y Esgrima, which beat Racing Club 3-1 on Saturday.
Boca's crosstown archrival River Plate defeated Instituto de Cordoba 4-1 with three goals by Ernesto Farias.
Five outings remain in the Abertura and River's victory lifted it to sixth in the 20-team standings with 23 points, keeping alive its hopes of catching the frontrunners.
Cordoba, playing at home, has not beaten River in 19 years, but was first on the scoreboard through Lautaro Trullet in the 20th minute.
River awoke, and Marcelo Gallardo centered for Ernesto Farias to equalize. Farias also struck in a header in the 51st, and netted again in the 61st. Gallardo finished River's scoring in the 86th with a 23-meter shot.
In Saturday's showcase match, Gimnasia y Esgrima got a piece of first place by defeating Racing off headers by Esteban Gonzalez in the 23rd and Gonzalo Vargas in the 70th, and a goal by Lucas Lobos in the 81st.
Rubin Capria notched the lone Racing goal in the 45th.
Historic victory
In another match, Independiente for the first time in 17 years defeated Velez Sarsfield as Lucas Pusineri scored in the 20th for a 1-0 finish.
Velez, which has spent most of the season nipping at Boca's heels in second place, was forced to share runner-up honors with Independiente at 26 points.
Velez also finished with nine men after second-half expulsions to Leandro Somoza and Maximiliano Pellegrino.
On Sunday, San Lorenzo demolished Tiro Federal 5-0; Lanus drew 1-1 with Newell's Old Boys; Olimpo of Bahia Blanca drew 0-0 with Arsenal.
