Blackburn Rovers were this week relegated from the English Premier League but the club's agony is yet to end. The club, owned by India's Venky's group, continues to be in the news for the wrong reasons with the latest being the owners' dismissal of the club's deputy chief executive Paul Hunt. Â
- Blackburn confirmed on Thursday that deputy chief executive Paul Hunt had left the club, a day after reports first emerged that he had been dismissed. Hunt and the club parted ways after the leak of a letter allegedly written by Hunt to the club's owners Venky's in December calling for the dismissal of manager Steve Kean, in a bid to help stave off relegation from the Premier League.
- According to a report in The Telegraph, Venky's has begun to offer the club for sale in Asia and the Middle East. The report also suggests that two consortiums are prepared to invest in the club but will not be paying Venky's for the club. No talks have been held yet.
- Reports also suggest that Venky's plan a range of cutbacks amid fears of administration.
- Blackburn were relegated to the Championship on Monday after having spent 11 consecutive years in the Premier League.
- Reportedly, so far only 1,200 season tickets have been sold in the club's early-bird ticket programme. A company which once rented a large executive box at Ewood Park (Blackburn's stadium) for £15,000 a season was offered the same package for £3,000. It turned it down.
