Barcelona say Carles Puyol won't travel after picking up a knee injury while Dani Alves is sidelined due to pain in his right leg.

Barcelona:

Barcelona will be missing defenders Carles Puyol and Dani Alves for Sunday's Spanish league game at Athletic Bilbao.

The league leaders say Puyol won't travel after picking up a knee injury while Alves is sidelined due to pain in his right leg.

Barcelona have defender Adriano returning from injury, while forward Lionel Messi and fullback Jordi Alba are still injured.

Barcelona lost their first game of the season under new coach Gerardo Martino at Ajax on Tuesday.

Martino downplayed his first setback, saying "it was only one game. If I could, I would sign off to win the next 20 and lose one."

Barcelona have 16 wins, 4 draws and 1 defeat in all competitions this season.

Bilbao will be without striker Aritz Aduriz.
