London:
England's World Cup qualifying campaign got off to a miserable start in Vienna on Saturday as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Austria when they squandered a two-goal lead to Austria in Group Six.
England looked ordinary from the start but were put 1-0 up in the 24th minute by Frank Lampard.
Steven Gerrard's strike midway through the second half had put England in control of a match at 2-0.
But substitute Roland Kollmann blasted in a free kick from 25 meters in the 71st minute to bring his side back in the game.
England then threw away the 2-0 lead with blunder-prone goalkeeper David James again at fault when he let the home side's equaliser pass under his body.
