Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says striker Lukas Podolski could leave the club for Inter Milan in the transfer window this month.
Speaking after his side lost 2-0 at Southampton on Thursday in the English Premier League, Wenger said Inter had a "farcical" opening offer for Podolski rejected, but "after, they came back a bit more serious." (Also read: Gerrard may leave Liverpool)
The 29-year-old Podolski, a World Cup winner with Germany in Brazil, last played for Arsenal in its 4-1 win over Newcastle on December 13. (Also read: Lampard shines for City but leaves New York FC fans fuming)
He was not in the squad against Southampton because of a tight groin, with fellow strikers Danny Welbeck and Yaya Sanogo also absent through injury.
Wenger says Podolski "would have had a big chance to start" had he been fit.
