As it stands, France will take on Sweden in the Round of 32, with Germany a likely opponent in the Round of 16 should they win. Norway will face Ivory Coast in the Round of 32, that is confirmed. Erling Haaland co. will face the winner of Brazil vs Japan in the Round of 16, if they win themselves. And as it stands, Senegal will face England in the Round of 32!

France finish as winners of Group I, ending with three wins from three games. Norway did not give them a run for their money today, as Stale Solbakken fielded a 'B-team', with the likes of Erling Haaland and Martin Odegaard not playing at all. 

Senegal finish third after a 5-0 hammering of Iraq today. They have given themselves a good chance of qualifying. Iraq finish bottom with zero wins, conceding 12 goals in their three matches.

FULL TIME! VICTORY for France! A magnificent attacking display from France, led by Ballon d'Or winner Ousmane Dembele, who scored a sensational hattrick in the first half. Norway missed a penalty in the second half, and France added a late fourth goal, courtesy of Desire Doue. Sadly, we did not get to witness an Mbappe vs Haaland face off.

Bradley Barcola uses his speed to run past the Norway defence and latch onto a throughball. He enters the box, and seems to be in two minds, as to whether to shoot or pass to Kylian Mbappe. Ultimately, it's a half-hearted shot at goal that could've well been a failed cutback. Norway's goalkeeper saves.

Norway win the ball back in France's half and a big chance! Oscar Bobb takes the first shot from the right wing, but Mike Maignan makes a superb save, getting down low. Norway then end up wasting the rebound.

Kylian Mbappe drives into the box after picking up the ball on the left-wing, looks to dribble past a defender and cut-in, but there's one Norwegian defender too many, and his attempt is blocked and cleared out. Moments later, Dembele is sent through on the right wing. He looks for the cutback but it's cleared out.

Free-kick in a dangerous area for France as Kylian Mbappe is fouled on the right half-space outside the box. Michael Olise takes the free-kick, whips it in towards the far post, centre-back Maxence Lacroix tries to get onto the end of it, but fails to make something out of it.

PENALTY KICK MISSED! Jorgen Strand Larsen has blown it for Norway! He aims it to the bottom right-corner but France goalkeeper Mike Maignan guesses correctly and makes an excellent save! It is the second-earliest hattrick in a FIFA World Cup game ever, and the first first-half World Cup hattrick in the 21st century.

Great chance for France again! Kylian Mbappe is sent through with a lovely throughball, he cuts inside into the box and takes a shot towards the near-post, but it's a great save by Norway's back-up goalkeeper Egil Selvik. This match should've had way more than one goal by now!

Cross into the box, Strand Larsen gets the ball down, but then he fires it wide! That's a second big opportunity squandered by Norway in the matter of a few minutes. Just moments earlier, France had had a chance at the other end, as Mbappe found Olise in the box, but their shot was blocked.

Norway squander a big chance! Jorgen Strand Larsen receives the ball in space, a winger was running through on the right, but Strand Larsen failed to find him with the throughpass! Crucial block by France, chance goes begging for Norway. Patrick Berg slams a left-footed shot from outside the box on the rebound, but it's straight at Mike Maignan.

Both Mbappe and Klose are joint-second at the moment on 16 goals each, but France's captain can take second spot all for himself with a single goal today.

Lionel Messi, of course, is No. 1 on the all-time World Cup goals list, on 18. Mbappe needs two today to match him, and three to surpass him.

Both Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland have scored four goals each in their first two games of FIFA World Cup 2026. But the duo trail Argentina icon Lionel Messi in the Golden Boot (most goals) chart, as Messi has scored five so far. With Haaland not starting, Mbappe will hope to add to his tally first and cross Messi today.

While France and Norway have already secured qualification to the Round of 32, today's match still holds enormous importance. The winner of today's clash will top Group I, while the loser will finish second. This will have a big impact in the knockout paths of both nations. 

If the match ends in a draw, France will finish top due to better goal difference.

Kylian Mbappe starts up front, with Ousmane Dembele and Michael Olise also starting. A big change in midfield and defence, with central midfielder Manu Kone and centre-back Maxence Lacroix coming in.

The world has long waited for the face off between star strikers Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland in the France-Norway clash, but that may not happen, at least initially. As per L'Equipe and ESPN, Norway manager Stale Solbakken is set to rest up to 10 starters in today's game, including Haaland, captain Martin Odegaard and forward Alexander Sorloth. This is because Norway have already qualified for the knockout stage, and this is the final chance to give the star players some rest.
