Manchester United manager David Moyes challenged his players to stand up and be counted after they fell to a shock defeat at home to West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.
Goals from Morgan Amalfitano and Saido Berahino gave West Brom a 2-1 win at Old Trafford -- their first since 1978 -- with Wayne Rooney's equaliser for the champions ultimately proving in vain.
United have now lost three times in the first six games of the campaign, which represents their worst start to a season since the inauguration of the Premier League in 1992, and have slumped to 12th place in the table.
Following hot on the heels of last weekend's chastening 4-1 defeat at local rivals Manchester City, it loads further pressure on Moyes, who succeeded the legendary Alex Ferguson as manager in July.
The former Everton manager expressed surprise that his side had not gone on to win the game after equalising through a free-kick from Rooney in the 57th minute.
"We didn't defend well in the second half, but when we got back in, I expected us to win it with the talent we have got," said Moyes, whose side visit Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League on Wednesday.
"No worries about the crowd, because it was great. The stadium in mid-week (for the 1-0 League Cup win over Liverpool) was in great voice.
"People come here expecting us to play well, but we didn't play well. We tried to pick it up in the second half, but we got done by it as well.
"You're always going to have bad results. It is how you deal with them. There are lots of games to come and it's about how you deal with them, so we look forward to them."
West Brom manager Steve Clarke felt his side were deserved victors.
"It is great and fantastic for the players," he said.
"Today my one wish is the players are getting the credit and we are talking about how good we were and not how poor Manchester United were.
"We came here not to sit and defend, but to come out and go for it. We made some late additions in the transfer window and now hopefully our fans can see we can have another good season."
