Faced with a challenging first innings 295 from the tourists, the English needed to get their acts right against a competent pace attack on a green top. Both openers were removed early by Bhuvneshwar Kumar (4/46), who has been in top form this series. After picking up fifer at Trent Bridge, Kumar kept up his good form with the ball in the second test as well.
