Sussex all-rounder James Coles fetched the highest price of the day at 390,000, becoming the most expensive signing in the tournament's history. However, the news that dominated the headlines was Pakistan's Abrar Ahmed being picked up for 190,000 by Sunrisers Leeds, a team owned by the same group as the IPL franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad. Former England captain Joe Root was the first player to go under the hammer, secured by Welsh Fire for 240,000, while Jason Roy was the final pick of the auction at 31,000 by MI London.
