India's Sourav Ghosal became the first player in the country to attain a career-high 36 in the latest Professional Squash Association rankings released on Friday.

Ghosal, who hails from Kolkata but is currently pursuing management studies in Leeds, climbed three spots from his previous ranking.

The 22-year-old played 13 tournaments last year winning two besides finishing runners-up in another. He won the 6th ICL Chennai Open in July and the Orano International Squash Open in September last year.

The three-time national champion lost to compatriot Ritwik Bhattacharya in the final of the Indian Challenger tournament in November.

Bhattacharya, meanwhile, remained stationary at 57 while Siddharth Suchde became the third Indian to be among the top 100 when he jumped 12 spots to 97.

In the Women's International Squash Players Association rankings, Joshna Chinappa remained the best Indian at 37th position while Dipika Pallikal slipped one place to 51.
