c Upul Tharanga b Thisara Perera
10 OUT! Wicket on the last ball of Powerplay 1! The Islanders have grabbed the big fish. On a two-paced track, Perera can be dangerous with his subtle variations and he is already showing signs of flourishing. Steams in and hits the deck hard. The ball stops a bit on Masakadza but he still goes for a full-blooded pull shot. However, he only manages to top edge it and the ball lobs towards mid-wicket. Tharanga in that region runs back and accepts the dolly gleefully. Sri Lanka have finally broken the opening stand. Some good disciplined bowling has brought in the reward. 44/1

Solomon Mire | 21 | 40 | 2 | 0 | 52.5 |
c Niroshan Dickwella b Thisara Perera
13.3 OUT! Perera with a 3-fer! He is having a ball out there! Got smashed for a boundary on the previous ball and takes his revenge on the very next ball. Pounds in a well-directed short ball on middle and leg and cramps Mire for room. Solomon swivels to pull but is in no position to play that shot. Gets it off the gloves and the ball lobs up towards the left of Dickwella who accepts the sitter. Zimbabwe in some trouble now. 56/3

Craig Ervine | 2 | 5 | 0 | 0 | 40 |
c Upul Tharanga b Thisara Perera
11.4 OUT! Edged and a good grab from Tharanga! These two were involved in the wicket of Masakadza and they are at it again. Ahead of a length and served a bit wider outside off, Ervine with no foot movement goes fishing at it. The ball seams away, takes the outside edge and flies low towards wide first slip where Upul pulls it off with a dive forward. Sri Lanka have been on the money today and credit to Chandimal for being aggressive here and keeping a slip. 49/2

Brendan Taylor Wk | 58 | 80 | 6 | 0 | 72.5 |
c Upul Tharanga b Thisara Perera
37.4 OUT! In the air... taken! Taylor walks back after a vital knock. Perera provides the breakthrough again! He is absolutely delighted and lets out a huge roar. Bangs in a short delivery, a well-directed one. Taylor steps out of the crease to help-pull this over the leg side but Perera gets some lift off the surface which induces the top edge. The ball flies right down the throat of Tharanga at fine leg. He dropped one earlier but takes it this time. Can Perera pick up a 5-fer? 171/7

Sikandar Raza | 9 | 12 | 2 | 0 | 75 |
c Kusal Mendis b Lakshan Sandakan
16.4 OUT! Oh my lord! Kusal Mendis with an absolute stunner here! Sikandar Raza is down on his haunches in disbelief! Zimbabwe in tatters now as they lose their mainstay! Sandakan floats it up outside off, Raza gets down on one knee and nails the slog sweep. The ball was traveling off the meat but wait... Kusal Mendis stationed at square leg comes in between. He times his leap to perfection to snatch a mind-boggling catch. At first it seemed like the ball popped out of his hands but nope it didn't. Phew! Superb reflexes! 73/4

Malcolm Waller | 24 | 35 | 2 | 0 | 68.57 |
c Niroshan Dickwella b Lakshan Sandakan
29 OUT! Got him, gone! Sandakan gets his second wicket. He has been a bit wayward but gets this one right. Slows it down appreciably, bowls it at 73.9 kph outside off. Waller kneels to employ the big sweep across the line but seems to have got a faint nick. Dickwella takes a good low catch and roars in appeal. Up goes the umpire's finger. The replays confirm that there was a bottom edge. The 66-run stand is broken. Half of the Zimbabwe side is back in the hut. 139/5

Peter Moor | 0 | 0 | 0 | ||
run out (Kusal Mendis)
29.4 OUT! Wickets in quick succession for Sri Lanka! Terrible mix-up and it results in a suicidal run out. Good game awareness from Mendis. Shortish ball attacking the rib-cage area of the batsman. Taylor hops and fends it behind square leg to set off for a run. The man from the deep is charging in but Kusal realizes that he can reach there more quickly. Sprints after it as Taylor calls his partner through for the second run. However, Moor is sent back by the wicket-keeper batsman quite late and that proves to be quite fatal. The throw is a flat and accurate one to Dickwella who takes the bails off as Moor dives to get back in. Seems to be short and the square leg umpire refers it upstairs. The replays confirm that the batsman is well short. Good passage of play for the Lankan Lions. The African side is under a lot of pressure now. 140/6

Graeme Cremer C | 34 | 42 | 3 | 0 | 80.95 |
b Nuwan Pradeep
43.2 OUT! The leg stump goes for a walk! What a brute of a delivery to get rid of the Zimbabwe skipper. Bowls a length delivery around off, it tails in substantially. Cremer hangs back to keep it out but misses it completely to hear the death rattle. Again beaten for pace. This might have kept a shade low as well. Pradeep is ruling like a king at the moment. 198/9

Kyle Jarvis | 5 | 9 | 0 | 0 | 55.55 |
b Nuwan Pradeep
41.3 OUT! Bowled 'em! Completely beaten for pace. Pradeep runs in and bowls a fuller length ball in the tight off stump corridor. Jarvis comes forward gingerly to counter it but misses it completely to get his stumps shattered. The sound of the ball hitting the stumps is like music to the ears of a fast bowler. Pradeep gets his first. 191/8

44 OUT! Timber! A convincing way to dismantle the No. 11. 3-fer for Pradeep. Full and in line of the stumps, Muzarabani tries to block it tentatively but misses the line completely to get the furniture disturbed behind. ZIMBABWE ARE BOWLED OUT FOR 198! 198/10

c sub b Blessing Muzarabani
21.5 OUT! Muzarabani strikes! Much-needed breakthrough for Zimbabwe. Fuller length ball well outside off, Perera goes chasing after it with minimal foot movement and gets a faint edge behind. The substitute keeper, Ryan Murray moves to his left and takes a regulation catch. Perera misses out on a fifty by a mere run. Struggled initially but then played some eye-catching strokes to give his side the ideal foundation. Can the African side capitalize on this opening? 103/2

Upul Tharanga | 17 | 34 | 2 | 0 | 50 |
b Tendai Chatara
9.1 OUT! And Upul Tharanga chops it on! Chatara draws first blood and is up and running with his hands aloft! He steams in from around the wicket and drops it on a back of a length on middle and off. The ball keeps jagging back in and cramps Tharanga for room who is in no position to keep it out with an angled blade. The inward movement as well as some extra lift off the surface takes the inside edge, bounces and then disturbs the woodwork. Zimbabwe break the scratchy opening stand. 33/1

Kusal Mendis | 36 | 44 | 4 | 0 | 81.81 |
b Blessing Muzarabani
24 OUT! Bowled 'em! A rather soft dismissal for Mendis! Poor stuff from him. He got his eye in and has thrown his wicket away. The two set batsmen are back in the hut. Mendis shuffles across his stumps and Muzarabani keeps his cool. Bowls a fuller length ball and targets the stumps. Mendis fails to clip it through and that is enough for the ball to crash into the stumps. The African side have suddenly got a sniff. Things are getting interesting. 110/3

Niroshan Dickwella Wk | 7 | 17 | 1 | 0 | 41.17 |
c sub b Blessing Muzarabani
25.3 OUT! Muzarabani takes off in celebration and is absolutely elated! A case of another batsman not putting value on his wicket. Back of a length ball and a bit of width on offer, Dickwella tries to dab it with an angled bat but only manages a thin nick. Murray behind the stumps accepts it gleefully. Sri Lanka are losing the plot as they have lost 3 wickets for 14 runs in the last 23 balls. 117/4

c sub b Kyle Jarvis
34.4 OUT! Edged and gone! Zimbabwe chipping away at the wickets on a consistent basis and are still in with a good chance. Jarvis runs in and bowls a back of a length ball wide outside off. Generates some extra bounce from the deck as Gunaratne attempts a loose slash. Only manages a thick outside edge that flies towards the keeper. The substitute keeper, Ryan Murray dives like a goalkeeper to his right and plucks it out of thin air. He is having a great time behind the stumps. The Islanders still need 54 runs from 92 balls with half their side back in the hut. 145/5
