Floated delivery on middle and off, Zak gives himself room on the off side and looked to go over mid off. The ball comes, clips his boot and then the shot is through from Zak. It goes high in the air, but Wanindu, who was at mid off, backtracks, and takes a good catch. Never easy those catches, the ones where a fielder has to move backward and take it. Sibley prods forward and looks to work it on the leg side. To the naked eye though, he seems to have missed and the ball clipped his pads and went to first slip, who took it. Thirimanne was the man there. The Lankans go up in appeal, for a catch but the umpire is unmoved. They seem certain and review it. UltraEdge is in and confirms that there was a fine edge there. The ball takes the outside edge and is dying down on the close in fielder on the off side. He though manages to hold onto it. Jonny though is not going anywhere as he takes the review. The young man showed good cricketing skills and patience to take England stronger in the lead. Though he would be disappointed to not have got his maiden Test ton but well played in the end. Perera tossed one up around leg, Lawrence looks to fend it away awkwardly but the extra bit of bounce means that the ball catches the splice of the bat and lobs towards Kusal Mendis at short leg. Mendis this time does not make a mistake as he gets a hold of it.  304/4

A tossed up ball outside off, Chandimal looks to defend but the ball just about spins away taking the outside edge and Root at first slip takes a fine catch diving to his right. Excellent ball from Bess. Sri Lanka still trail by 43 runs and now have 5 wickets in hand as their skipper departs for 20.  243/5

Maybe a lapse in concentration from Dickwella led to his downfall. Bess bowls a floated ball around off and gets it to spin a bit away from the left-hander. Dickwella looks to cut it off the back foot but he ends up gettng a nick off the outside edge of his bat. Buttler behind the sticks there does well to hold onto it. He though fails to lay bat on ball as the ball sneaks through beneath his bat and goes onto rattle the wickets behind. Sri Lanka falling apart as Mathews is running out of partners.  296/7

122.2 OUT! EDGED AND TAKEN! Root was asking his fielders to be ready for a catch on the previous ball. He takes one now. A tossed up ball outside off, Hasaranga looks to drive but gets an outside edge towards first slip. Root there dives to his left and takes a very good catch which was flying quick. Leach gets his 3rd wicket and Sri Lanka are 8 down now with a lead of 28.  314/8

132.5 OUT! STUMPED! Sharp work form Buttler. Tossed up around off, Perera lunges forward and looks to defend it but the ball turns square after pitching and Buttler behind the wickets collects it and whips the stumps sharply. The umpire takes it upstairs. The replays roll in and the third umpire after multiple replays decides that Perera does not have any thing behind the line. The line belongs to the umpire and Perera has to take the long walk back.  352/9

5 OUT! CAUGHT! Sri Lanka have sent both the openers once again quickly. Nicley tossed up by Embuldeniya, Crawley goes for the drive away from the body but the spin and turn on it means that the ball takes the outside edge and settles into the bucket hands of Kusal Mendis at short gully.  12/2

Tossed up ball on off, Bairstow taps it to the vacant point region and takes off for a single but stops in between. He again takes off for a single as Dickwella there runs to the ball, turns and throws at the bowler's end. Root who is running to the danger end has got his bat stuck out into the ground as he fails to make it in time when the bails are dislodged off a direct hit. The umpires just for confirmation take it upstairs and the replays confirm that Root was indeed short of his ground and the ball dislodged the bails and not the fielder standing close to the stumps.  14/3
