Shoaib Akhtar criticised the anthem for the upcoming edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL) and quite hilariously went on to say that the song released by PSL had "scared my children." Shoaib posted a video on Twitter to express his frustration at the song and wrote: "Really disappointed by the anthem this year. Is this how you're taking PSL brand up? Going down every year. Kon banata hai yeh (Who makes such songs). The anthem titled "Aaj Dekhe Ga Crowd Mera Groove TV Pe" was released on February 6.
Shoaib was scathing in his criticism and said, "Such poor composition. Such a poor song!
"Who from the PCB gave this idea?"
He continued, "You guys have scared my children. They haven't been talking to me for three days because of you," before breaking into a wry smile, and even more sarcastically threatened the PCB with a court case.
Shoaib then took the literal meaning of "groove" to drive home his point. "Groove means a drain," he roared.
PSL had in December last year announced that Player of the Tournament from the 2020 edition Babar Azam remained in the Platinum category of the players and he was joined by Karachi Kings teammates Imad Wasim and Mohammed Amir.
All-rounder Shadab Khan remained in Platinum category while Faheem Ashraf moved down to Diamond category.
The 2021 edition of the tournament will run from February 20 to March 22 and will played in Karachi and Lahore.
The Qualifier is scheduled for March 18 while Eliminators 1 and 2 will be played on March 19 and 20, all in Lahore.
Lahore will also host the final on March 22.
