Tim Louis Seifert Profile

Explosive with the bat and sharp behind the stumps, Tim Seifert has built a reputation as one of New Zealand's most dynamic wicketkeeper-batters in white-ball cricket. Born in Whanganui in 1994, the right-hander rose through the domestic ranks with his fearless approach and ability to take on bowlers from the outset.

His domestic breakthrough came with Northern Districts, where he made his T20 debut in 2014 in the Super Smash, followed by his First-class and List A debuts later the same year. Seifert grabbed attention in December 2017 when he smashed a blistering 40-ball century against Auckland in the Super Smash, announcing himself as one of the most destructive batters in the domestic circuit. He followed it up with a standout 2017–18 season in the Plunket Shield, finishing as the leading run-scorer with 703 runs in nine matches, a performance that earned him a contract with Northern Districts for the 2018–19 season.

His performances soon brought him into the international spotlight, and he made his T20I debut for New Zealand in 2018, followed by an ODI debut as well. Seifert quickly showcased his fearless style, highlighted by a blistering 84 off 43 balls against the India national cricket team, a knock that underlined his ability to dominate attacks in the shortest format.

Alongside international cricket, Seifert became a regular name across global T20 leagues. He represented teams in competitions such as the Caribbean Premier League, where he was part of the Trinbago Knight Riders squad in 2020 and later joined the Saint Lucia Kings in 2025. During the 2025 CPL season, he smashed a sensational unbeaten 125 off 53 balls against the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons, reaching his century in just 40 balls to equal Andre Russell’s record for the fastest hundred in the tournament’s history back then. Seifert also featured in the Lanka Premier League, turning out for the Dambulla Giants in 2022 and later the Galle Titans in 2023 before being retained by the Galle Marvels for the 2024 season. That campaign proved particularly memorable as Seifert scored 400 runs in ten matches, finishing as the tournament’s leading run-scorer and winning the Green Cap.

After establishing himself as a reliable performer in T20 leagues around the world, Tim Seifert was picked up by Kolkata Knight Riders in the mini auction ahead of the 2026 season, setting up a reunion with fellow Kiwi opener Finn Allen. He then enjoyed a strong 2025–26 campaign in the Big Bash League with the Melbourne Renegades, scoring 285 runs in ten matches, including a superb century. Seifert carried that form into the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026, where he emerged as one of the standout batters of the tournament, finishing as the second-highest run-scorer with 326 runs in nine matches. Alongside Allen, the duo, famously dubbed the 'Bash Brothers', lit up the event with fearless batting, including a record-breaking, unbeaten 175-run stand against the United Arab Emirates, the highest partnership for any wicket in T20 World Cup history. With the pair averaging over 70 during the tournament, Seifert played a crucial role in New Zealand’s run to the final, though the Kiwis eventually finished runners-up after losing to India.
