Right then! Quetta Gladiators win their second game and they now would look to continue the winning momentum in their next game. Lahore, on the other hand, have now lost 2 in a row and they need to get back to winning ways. There is another game coming up now as Peshawar Zalmi face off against Karachi Kings. That match will begin at 2200 local (1800 GMT) Do join us then. Cheers and take care.
Sarfaraz Ahmed, the Quetta skipper, says that the pitch played a little differently and they got a good score. Ads that the bowlers bowled really well, especially Usman Shinwari. Tells that their team did not have a good record and it becomes difficult for them. Tells that they have made a good comeback and they will look to continue.
Usman Shinwari, the Man of the Match, says that he thanks God for his performance and adds that he needed to make use of the opportunity when he gets it. States that he is happy that he helped his side win.
Sohail Akhtar, the Lahore skipper, is up for a chat. He says that they need to take responsibility for their loss. Adds that they spoke about their roles and will need to speak again. He states that the batters need to take responsibility and step up, otherwise it can end in results like these. He further adds that there was a bit of spin but the ball was coming on nicely.
Quetta Gladiators needed an early breakthrough and Usman Shinwari provided just that by claiming a wicket in the first over. Mohammad Hasnain then removed Zaman and put Lahore Qalandars on the back foot. Shinwari was the star as he picked a three-fer which included the wicket of Tim David who threatened to take the game away. Mohammad Hasnain was expensive but he picked the last wicket but the spinners actually broke the back with tight spells and did a very good job in the middle with the ball. Overall, it was a good win. Stay tuned for the presentation ceremony!!!
For the Qalandars, they did not start off too well, losing three pretty quickly, as they lost Sohail Akhtar, Fakhar Zaman, and Mohammad Hafeez before the Powerplay. Zeeshan Ashraf was looking good but threw his wicket away. Ben Dunk, Rashid Khan, and Ahmed Daniyal too did not last long and the game was more than over but Tim David played a crucial knock of 46 and brought the side back into the game while James Faulkner supported him well at the other end. Tim David fell at the wrong time while Shaheen Afridi played a few attacking shots but it didn't matter. Haris Rauf played a blinder and brought the target to 19 runs in 13 balls but Hasnain dismissed him to end the game.
What a match we have witnessed! Quetta Gladiators were winning this quite comfortably a while ago but it got close towards the end but Hasnain kept his cool, despite giving 18 runs in his last over meant that Gladiators have won and they are not out of the tournament yet. Lahore, on the other hand, has now had two games where their batting has faltered. They need to make a strong comeback.
