Right then, that is it from this one-sided affair where Netherlands gets the better of Bangladesh. However, the focus now moves to the big one as India takes on England in a huge clash on 29th October Sunday. That game will begin at 2 pm IST (8.30 am GMT), but as you know, you can always join us early for all the build-up to that game. Until then, cheers and goodbye!
Scott Edwards, the victorious skipper of Netherlands says that they did not have much time to prepare for this game after their heartbreaking loss against Australia. He adds that while batting he wanted to get more than 220 as the wicket would help them to restrict that and they needed some runs behind their back to set up plans to get the wickets. He ends by saying that all the things around them are helping them get better, be it the support staff or the players. The intensity is good and the players are confident. He says that they have some tough games to come and they feel they have to be prepared for all of them.
Shakib Al Hasan, the captain of Bangladesh says that they bowled really well but were sloppy on the field. Adds that they could have restricted them to around 150-160 but the dropped chances and the misfields led them to a total of 200+. He adds that this is not the way Bangladesh plays cricket and they need to regroup and get better before the upcoming big games. He ends by thanking the fans for their support and is sorry to put up a performance like this in front of them. He adds by saying that his performance matters a lot for the team and that he will look to do better with the bat in the middle overs.
Paul van Meekeren is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his match-winning spell. He says that it is a very special moment for the team. Adds by saying that the bounce back from their previous game shows great character. He mentions that they were looking at 240-250 at the halfway stage and he is happy that they got close to that. Ends by saying that it was an all-around match and is tough to pick a man of the match as it was more of a victory for the entire team.
Presentation Time...
Earlier in the game, after electing to bat first, Netherlands posted a competitive score on the board courtesy of a gritty half-century from skipper Scott Edwards and good contributions from Wesley Barresi, Sybrand Engelbrecht, and Logan van Beek. For Bangladesh except for Mehidy Hasan all the other bowlers got a couple of wickets each with only Shakib Al Hasan chipping in with one. While chasing, the Bangla Tigers produced another shocking display of batting and had to leave the Eden Gardens empty-handed.
Netherlands, on the other hand, will be extremely happy with bowling effort. They once again showed their never-give-up attitude and made Bangladesh work hard for every run. Their fielding and catching was absolutely brilliant as well which proved to be the difference in this game. Aryan Dutt and Logan van Beek set the tone for them with the early wickets and they never looked behind after that. Scott Edwards used his bowlers really well and they controlled the middle overs giving nothing away and picking up wickets at regular intervals. Paul van Meekeren was the pick of the bowlers with four wickets which included the dismissals of Shakib and Rahim, and it was an absolute peach of a delivery to get the latter out. Bas de Leede picked up a couple of wickets while Colin Ackermann got one too. This was really a spirited performance after that huge loss against Australia and they are making themselves clear that they are here for a reason.
Bangladesh got off to a cautious start with Tanzid Hasan hitting a few good shots but in the blink of an eye they lost both their openers. Once again it Mehidy Hasan who initially struggled but once he got off the mark on his 11th ball, he kept the scoreboard ticking but also kept losing partners at the other end. The experienced duo of Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim also failed to make any sort of impact and with the pressure piling on Mehidy departed too after scoring 35 runs. However, after that, Mahmudullah and Mahedi Hasan steadied things for a bit with a 48-run stand but a miscommunication in the middle cost the latter his wicket and the former also could stick around much longer after that as Bangladesh went further down. The tail wagged around for a while but with the required rate creeping up they too were taken care of as they lost by a huge margin of 87 runs.
What an outstanding victory for Netherlands! Orange reigns supreme over Green here at Eden Gardens. The Dutch have completely outplayed Bangladesh in all three departments and registered their second win of the tournament while for the Bangla Tigers, their World Cup campaign is only going in the wrong direction.

Paul van Meekeren To Taskin Ahmed OUT!
OUT! CAUGHT! That is the end of the Bangladesh innings and they have lost the game by 87 runs against the Netherlands. The last man to go is Taskin Ahmed who pulls the ball with no timing straight down the throat of Bas de Leede running in from deep mid-wicket. Short ball working well against Bangladesh as Paul van Meekeren picks up his 4th and 3 of them came from short balls. Its all over for Bangladesh and the Netherlands have won the match.
