This is speared in fuller and just nipping back in a touch from middle, Nishant Sindhu is hurried on the shot as he flicks it across. Doesn't quite manage to keep it along the ground as the bat twists at the point of contact. It goes flat and parallel and straight toward mid-wicket, dipping low just ahead of Devdutt Padikkal. Devdutt dives forward with both his hands stretched out, and grabs it by scooping it. Now, the TV umpire is summoned in to check whether his fingers are cleanly underneath the ball. A zoomer now comes up to magnify it. The TV umpire is not quite convinced with it and also requests for another angle, if any. 29 OUT! EXCELLENT CATCH! None better than the skipper to lead from the front. Boy, Karnataka were crawling back into the game a few minutes back. They are now roaring in this contest. A length ball, outside off, Parth Vats looks to go over the top, with mid off inside the circle. But the ball does not quite bounce as much as he expected it to. Hits the toe end of the bat but still, seemed to have got enough from the willow. It seemingly looped over mid off, but Mayank Agarwal at that position, keeping track of the ball, back-tracked a few steps and then leaped at the right time, to pouch it with both hands. Loops the wrong 'un, nice and full around off and gets the ball to turn back into the right-hander. Dinesh Bana fails to read the ball off Gopal's wrist and prods to make a block. 42.3 OUT! BOWLED! Chopped on! Well, Prasidh Krishna dropped Rahul Tewatia on 2 and he has eventually got him on 22! A length ball, outside off, angling in from around the wicket. Tewatia tried to open the face of the bat and guide it behind point but he played it a touch too early. As a result, the bat face was opened way too early and the ball took the bottom edge of the bat. Also, Tewatia was too close to the ball. The ball bounces onto the pitch and goes onto the stumps. 45.1 OUT! CAUGHT! Abhilash Shetty gets a wicket on the very first delivery in his returning spell, adding to his previous three. He hits the deck hard, on a back of a length, over middle, Sumit Kumar charges down the track and looks to pump it downtown but is hurried onto his shot by the pace behind the ball. He only manages to sky it straight down the throat of Devdutt Padikkal at long on. The dropped catch does not count for much as Sumit Kumar, who was dropped on 20 by Krishnan Shrijith, departs for 21 (33) and Haryana are nine down for 198 runs. 198/9

43 OUT! TRAPPED IN FRONT! The finger goes up on a confident appeal. However, Anshul has challenged the on-field decision. Prasidh Krishna spears it in, full and aims the sticks. It kisses the surface and skids through very quickly jagging back in a touch as well. Anshul Kamboj gets a bit across to flick it away to the leg side, but ends up playing all over it. 0.3 OUT! LBW! A huge shout for LBW and the umpire raises his finger, Mayank Agarwal consults with DDP and decides to send it upstairs. Anshul Kamboj lands it on a good length around off and gets the ball to nip back in sharply. Mayank Agarwal gets his front leg out and looks to tuck it across only to miss the ball and get hit plumb in front of the stumps. The UltraEdge shows no spike as the ball is way past the inside edge. The Ball Tracker shows the pitch and impact to be right and the wickets to be clipping the top of the stumps which turns out to be an 'Umpire's call'. A huge, huge wicket for Haryana as Kamboj gets rid of the in-form Mayank Agarwal for a duck! Karnataka rocked early and are 4/1. 4/1

39.4 OUT! CAUGHT! A wicket against the run of play and the only disappointment for Karnataka would be that Devdutt Padikkal has missed out on a second consecutive Vijay Hazare Trophy century! Selfless style of batting, putting the team ahead of his century. He wanted to keep the pressure on Haryana and decided to take on Sindhu. Jumped down the track, but did so a bit too early. That gave Nishant just that extra time to delay his delivery, which he did, slowing the ball up beautifully, outside off. Padikkal was down the pitch and aiming for a mighty heave, but could not get to the pitch of the ball. Got a massive top edge which was skied straight up in the night sky. Amit Rana stayed under it for a long time but eventually took it to his left from mid off. Padikkal departs for a possibly match-winning 86 and the 128-run stand is broken. 15.3 OUT! UP THE AIR AND TAKEN SAFELY! A nothing shot from Aneesh and finally, Haryana get a breakthrough! This is fired in quickly, on middle and leg, on a fuller length, KV Aneesh is caught in the crease and does not quite execute the weight transfer on the back foot. Goes through the shot to access the leg side by whipping across, using his wrists. Ends up top-edging it in the air. The ball lobs and swirls in the air over the square leg region where Sumit Kumar takes it calmly. After doing all the hard work, consuming 47 balls for his 22, Aneesh gets out in a pretty lazy manner. Might be a good thing for Karnataka given that he was struggling, but clearly, not a great display of commitment from the batter. The 62-run stand is broken and they are 66/2, needing another 172 from 207 balls. 66/2

45.3 OUT! KNOCKED HIM OVER! A pearler from Nishant Sindhu! Stays over the stumps, and dishes out a fuller-length delivery. Lands it on the money, right on one of those cracks which produces sharp grip and turn into the batter. Smaran Ravichandran commits on the front foot and tries to access his flick shot to the leg side. But he is totally beaten by the turn which creates a fair bit of gap between the bat and the pad. It is enough for the ball to sneak through and clatter the wickets. Smaran Ravichandran departs after playing a top-class knock of 76 (94). A little too late for Haryana as they get the fifth wicket. 225/5

41 OUT! CAUGHT! That ends a frustrating day for Krishnan Shrijith. He was extremely sloppy with the gloves and now, with the bat, his stay has ended in 5 balls. Flighted, outside off, a touch wide, Shrijith blindly jumps down the track, not interested in playing the ball on its merit for a while. Is nowhere near the pitch of the ball and gets a big top edge. Himanshu Rana covers good ground to his left from short third and dives to take a very good catch near point. Excellent effort but a questionable shot.
