About Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur
In India’s ‘Pink City’, the Sawai Mansingh Stadium is an exclusive cricket stadium, in existence since the times of the Maharaja Sawai Mansingh II. Most memorable among the historic moments this venue has witnessed, would be Pakistan President General Zia-ul-Haq visiting the India-Pakistan Test match played here in 1987, as part of the ‘Cricket for Peace’ initiative. Small in terms of capacity, when compared to some of the gigantic grounds in India, the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, which played host to World Cup matches, both in 1987 and 1996, now has floodlights as part of its infrastructure. It is home to the IPL team Rajasthan Royals.
