We are all set to start. Lees and Crawley will start for England. Trent Boult comes to bowl.

Now, 329 is not a big score but it is a good one. The wicket is providing some assistance to both, the bowlers and if New Zealand land it on the right areas, it is not going to be easy for England. Saying they, the English batters are in really good form. They would love to continue that. Stay tuned for the reply in a bit.

England, will be happy with how they performed with the ball. Yes, they will be disappointed they let the Kiwis off the hook after the start they had but they were really impressive. They made run scoring very tough and also managed to take wickets at regular intervals. Except for the morning session today, their bowlers were very disciplined. Potts and Broad were excellent and Overton too executed the plans given to him. Leach though was the luck with a fifer. He got assistance from the surface and made use of it. The hosts however, will be slightly disappointed with their fielding which was not up to the mark. Had they hung onto their catches, they could have restricted the Kiwis to a lower score. Still though, it was a decent effort from them.

The New Zealand innings though was about the one man, Daryl Mitchell. Yes, there were others who did get off to starts but he was the mainstay. Yet another ton for him and he’s the only reason why the visitors are not behind in the game. Had it not been for him, the Kiwis could have been bowled out for well below 250.

England have made quick work of the remaining two wickets and kept the Kiwis to well under 350 but New Zealand will be happy with their effort. Especially when you consider the fact that they were reeling at 83 for 4. Had they been given 329 at that time, they would have taken it with both hands. The game however, is quiet even at the moment. Can’t really say which side is ahead.

Now England’s aim will be to keep the visitors to below 350 and that is well possible with no recognised batters left. The away side will hope the tail can wag and then can get over that mark. Do join us after the break.
