Amit Kumar defeated Ebikweminomo Welson of Nigeria to win the gold in the men's 57 kg freestyle wrestling competition. Amit won the bout 3-1 on classification points. Amit won six points in the two periods while Welson got two. (Day 6 Blog | Medal Tally)

The scoreline was 10-0 in both quarterfinals and semifinals rounds. While in the semis, he outplayed Azhar Hussain of Pakistan, Amit blanked Bokang Masunyane of South Africa in the quarters.
