The 'B' sample of athletes Ashwini Akkunji and Priyanka Pawar have also tested positive for banned anabolic steroids.
Ashwini and Priyanka failed the dope test last Monday barely hours before they were to accompany the Indian squad for the Asian Championships in Kobe, Japan.
They were provisionally suspended and dropped from the squad.
Athletics Federation of India Director M.L. Dogra confirmed Monday that their B-samples have also tested positive.
"We have received communication from National Anti Doping Agency that Ashwini and Priyanka's 'B' samples have tested positive for the same anabolic steroids found in their 'A' sample," he said.
They tested positive for methandienone.
Ashwini was part of the 4x400m women's relay team that won the gold medal in the Asian Games and Commonwealth Games. She also won the 400m hurdles at the Asian Games.
Two other members of the relay team Mandeep Kaur and Sini Jose are also among the eight Indian athletes to test positive. (Also read: Sports Ministry likely to adopt new doping law)
