Achieng wins middleweight title

Kenya's Conjestina Achieng has added the World Boxing Foundation middleweight boxing title to her IBF crown.

Kenya's Conjestina Achieng has added the World Boxing Foundation middleweight boxing title to her IBF crown. The victory came as the corner of Argentine opponent Guillermina Fernandez threw in the towel 1:40 seconds after the opening bell. Achieng improved to 21-3, her fourth victory by technical knockout. Fernandez fell to 3-1. The bout at the Kenyatta International Conference Center started five hours behind schedule, resulting in an unruly crowd, which threw plastic bottles into the ring during the undercard. (AP)
