He is much like any other successful marathon runner. An amazing stamina and an equally dedicated fan-base. At 100 and still running though, Fauja Singh is also a marathoner like no other. The Indian born British citizen was in Chandigarh on Tuesday and told NDTV that he is addicted to running.
Having featured in several marathon races since he began running two decades back, Fauja believes in leading a disciplined life. " If I do not run, I will not survive. If I do not lead a disciplined life, I will not survive. I do not like to give lectures but I see what suits me," he said.
Fauja, who featured for an international campaign for sportswear in 2004, says he walks for at least 4 hours every day. "I eat very little and begin my day with curd. I do not get angry and get the exercise. Else I will go crazy," said the man who has now become a fitness icon.
He also has a biography based on his life and Khuswant Singh, the author, says Fuaja is a god's gift. "I tell everywhere that after his Toronto feat.....has redefined dictionary meanings of word inspiration, endurance and human will," he said.
