1920 (IST): David B. Francis, an AIBA Supervisor, said that Sarita Devi incident looked pre-planned. "The whole incident looked like a well planned scenario by her and her team, and it is regretful to watch a boxer refuse the medal regardless of what happened in the competition. In this regard, as the Technical Delegate, I had to request OCA to review this incident, so any boxer or athlete in other sports will not follow in her footsteps by respecting the spirit of fair-play and sportsmanship of the Olympic Movement," said Francis. 1129 (IST): Mary's strategy has been to study her opponents first - almost like a predator waiting for the eventual kill. Zhaina though may not allow herself to be eaily hunted. The 25-year-old beat a favoured Mongolian Nandintsetseg Myagmardulum in her previous bout in what was a closely contested match.
Bout Begins!
1128 (IST): Four rounds of two minutes each will decide the winner. Both Mary Kom and Zhaina Shekerbekova are eying their first Asian Games boxing gold. While Mary has been a little slow in the first two rounds of her previous bouts here, she has turned up the heat on her opponents in the next two to seal a win with ease. Will today see a different approach?
1127 (IST): The 'battle' of the day! Mary Kom comes out to battle Zhaina Shekerbekova (KZK) for gold in flyweight (48-51 kg) boxing.

Here's why former international referee - Farhad Engineer - however says that punches from knuckles and not from the sides count. He feels therefore that the judges' call on the matter may have been correct despite all the commotion:

Mary Kom, who loves to defy odds, is in the cusp of history. In a majestic career, during which she won five world championship titles and became the first Indian to win an Olympic medal at London 2012, an Asian Games gold will probably complete her stunning CV.
Much before 11:30 AM, Indians will be glued to their TV sets. Not for a cricket match but to pray for Mary Kom, who takes on Kazak girl Zhaina Shekerbekova in the final of the women's flyweight (48-51 kg) division. Just like Mary, Zhaina is eyeing her first Asian Games gold medal.
Zhaina will be in the blue corner. The 25-year-old is a strong an attacking boxer. In the semifinal on Tuesday, Zhaina defeated the much experienced Mongolian Nandintsetseg Myagmardulum in an aggressive contest. Zhaina won 3-0 and proved that she won't throw in the towel against Mary Kom easily.
Irrespective of the outcome of her final bout at the #AsianGames2014... India is proud of your achievement @MangteC #MaryKom. True champion
- PRIYANKA (@priyankachopra) September 30, 2014
Mary's route to the final has been quite easy. She has hardly been pushed in her three rounds. Tuesday's semifinal against Bang Thi Le of Vietnam hardly generated the competition one would expect in a semifinal match. Mary knows the gravity of a final. The world No. 5 has been in this position several times in her 14-year career. Experience will be the 31-year-old super mom's biggest strength.
A gold from Mary should calm frayed Indian nerves after the controversial exit of Sarita Devi in the lightweight semifinal. Fortunately, Mary won't be fighting a Korean boxer, some of whom have won disputed bouts.
Indians will be in seven finals in track and field events. Indians have traditionally been strong in middle distance events. The women's 800m final will have Tintu Lukka and Sushma Devi among the nine finalists. In the men's version, Sajeesh Joseph will be the lone Indian in fray. His main competition will come from runners from Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
India will hope for a medal from Ashwini Akkunji in the women's 400m hurdles. Ashwini has had the three best timings in the heats and will be a strong contender. Ashwini is the defending champion, having won the gold in Guangzhou in 2010 with a timing of 56.15 seconds. But her timing (58.75) in the Glasgow Commonwealth Games was far from her best.
Indian women will play Japan for the bronze medal in hockey. This match will be a grudge match of sorts for the Ritu Rani-led team as India had narrowly lost the bronze four years ago in Guangzhou against the Japanese.
The quest for a wrestling medal will continue as four Indians will step onto the mat in men's Greco-Roman competition. So far, India's success has come only from the freestylers.
