Hobbs said he felt forced to address the claims because of No Laying Up's large audience in golf media. He wrote that members had suggested he was waiting for payments from LIV before reporting negative news about the league. Hobbs called those claims “completely false.”

“I do not make any money from Flushing It Golf outside of the minor ad revenue share from social media platforms, and I never have,” Hobbs said. He also claimed unnamed groups had offered him money to present certain views, but said he rejected every offer.

Hobbs said Flushing It began after COVID as a way to step away from personal problems. What started as a meme account in 2021 later became a golf news page. He described himself as “just a tradesman from the UK who is obsessed with golf” and said he now tries to share news with sourcing.

No Laying Up Pushes Back As Golf Fans Join The Dispute

The response from No Laying Up changed the tone of the discussion. The podcast group said the comment about Hobbs being paid was made as a joke and argued that the wider history between both sides had been left out. They also pointed to old posts from Flushing It during their long-running dispute.

Daily Telegraph golf writer James Corrigan defended Hobbs, writing that “Flushing It has been honest in all this.” No Laying Up then replied directly, saying there was more context to the dispute and asking Corrigan to do more research before taking a side.

The argument has lasted for years and includes personal exchanges between Flushing It and No Laying Up members. Some old posts shared in the dispute contain personal insults, which goes beyond a normal disagreement over golf reporting. Still, there is no verified evidence in the available reporting that Hobbs was ever paid by LIV Golf.
