Shane Lowry has put himself in position to collect the biggest check at the 2026 Amgen Irish Open. The Irishman takes a four-shot lead into Sunday at 16-under after a 65 in the third round. He now has a chance to win $1.02 million from the $6 million purse at Trump International Golf Links in Doonbeg.
Lowry is chasing his second Irish Open title, but the money is only part of what makes Sunday important. The winner will also pick up 835 Race to Dubai points and valuable Official World Golf Ranking points. With 69 professionals completing four rounds, the full prize fund will be shared across the field.
Amgen Irish Open 2026 Prize Money Breakdown
The winner will receive $1,020,000, which is 17% of the total purse. The runner-up gets $660,000, while third place earns $375,600. Fourth receives $300,000, and fifth gets $254,400. Players finishing from sixth through 10th will take home between $120,000 and $210,000.
The money keeps dropping as players move down the leaderboard. A 20th-place finish is worth $72,000, while 30th pays $53,400. Players finishing 50th and 60th will receive $25,800 and $17,400 respectively. Even 65th place comes with $14,400 from the tournament purse.
The payout structure gives Lowry plenty to play for, but the final round still has to be won. Jacob Skov Olesen sits four shots behind, while Joaquin Niemann is seven back. Rory McIlroy, the defending champion, is tied for 50th after a 74 on Saturday.
Shane Lowry Has More Than $1 Million At Stake
Lowry's lead has made him the clear name to watch heading into Sunday, especially after his record-breaking 62 in the second round. He followed that with a 65, moving to 16-under and giving himself a strong chance to win the Irish Open on home soil.
The winner will also receive about 32.8 Official World Golf Ranking points, with the exact figure depending on field strength. More importantly for the season race, 5,000 Race to Dubai points are available, with 835 going to the champion. The winner also receives a two-plus-season DP World Tour exemption.
There is another reason players will care about every position on Sunday. The top eight players in the final Race to Dubai standings will share a $6 million bonus pool at the end of the season. For Lowry, though, the immediate target is simple: protect his four-shot lead and collect the biggest prize in Doonbeg.
