While most players have already started preparing for the event, Azarenka was seen spending time grooming children who have taken up the sport.
Participating in a tennis clinic in Manhatten, Azarenka received a shrill applause from the children. "If I can give one hour to the kids to kind of inspire them, and change their dreams, or help their dreams, it's something that inspires and motivates me. I remember being myself as a kid. So, I'm just here 100-percent," she said.
Such was her passion that despite being offered breaks by the organisers, the two time Australian Open champion continued to play on with children.
The clinic aimed at bringing the sport to youth from high risk and low income inner city neighborhoods.
