US to face Switzerland in 2012 Davis Cup

The United States have been drawn to play at Switzerland in the first round of the 2012 Davis Cup.

The United States have been drawn to play at Switzerland in the first round of the 2012 Davis Cup.

Switzerland will be at home for the best-of-five series from February 10-12.

The teams last played in the opening round in 2009, when the Americans beat Switzerland 4-1 in Birmingham, Alabama. Roger Federer did not play in that series and has not played in the first round since 2004.

Spain and Argentina, the 2011 finalists, were the top seeds at Wednesday's draw. Spain will host Kazakhstan and Argentina will travel to Germany.

Also, it's: Austria vs. Russia; Canada vs. France; Czech Republic vs. Italy; Serbia vs. Sweden; and Japan vs. Croatia.
