As Sania Mirza's participation in the Sunfeast Open still remains a big question mark, the international stars have arrived in Kolkata, and some of them were spotted enjoying a joyride around the Victoria Memorial.
The buggy ride around the Victoria Memorial in Kolkata not only provided a little of taste of India's colonial past but gave the tennis pros something to smile about.
A day before the tournament kicks off, eleven players turned up for the tourist ritual, giving them a taste of Kolkata's infamous traffic lights!
NDTV caught up with 20 year old Yaraslova Shvedova, who won the Sony Ericsson International at Bangalore earlier this year upsetting home favourite Sania Mirza. And at the Sunfeast Tournament she aims to keep up the chase.
"I am looking forward to playing good tennis and enjoying myself. I got some good points from here or next tournaments," said Yaraslova Shvedova, World number 81.
On being asked about the interesting mix of players like Bartoli ,Kirilenko Sania Mirza, taking part in the tournament, Yaraslova replied in the affirmative.
"It's interesting, not so many famous players in Bangalore but here there is Bartoli Hantuchova and yes it's interesting they come here and its a good tournament here," she said.
Yaraslova is also very excited about other recreational events while she is here.
"We have fashion show this evening with real Indian models so I'm looking forward to that. I love watching Hindi movies, which they like in Russia. I like the singing and the dancing," she said.
The rising tennis pro who is keen on architecture and history is looking forward to visiting St.Peterburg to make a connection with her roots.
