Roger Federer booked his place in the semi-finals of the Toronto Masters series tournament in Canada on Friday with his third match victory in two days. The Swiss Wimbledon champion, who played both his second and third round matches on Thursday, beat Frenchman Fabrice Santoro 7-5, 6-4 to reach the last four. Federer advanced to meet Swede Thomas Johansson, who beat his compatriot and namesake, Joachim Johansson 6-3, 7-6(7-5) in the day's second quarterfinal. This was the first time that the two Johanssons had met on court and it was the more experienced of the two - Thomas - who took the upper hand. (AP)
