Australia vs New Zealand: WICKET! New Zealand Win!!!
Tim Southee gets the wicket of Pat Cummins and Australia are all out for 111. New Zealand win the game by 89 runs.
Another ones bites the dust! Lockie Ferguson has got the wicket of Matthew Wade and the game is getting out of Australia's hands now. They have lost 6 wickets and the peaking required run rate makes things tougher for them.
Oh, that's a beautiful shot from Mitchell Marsh. He created room for himself on the fuller ball of Mitchell Santner and lofted the ball over cover for a massive six. The distance was 97 metres.
Australia vs New Zealand: Australia start 201-run chase vs New Zealand
David Warner and Aaron Finch have started Australia's 201-run chase vs New Zealand. Five runs came off the first over bowled by Trent Boult. Warner got an outside on the fourth delivery but he was lucky that the ball fell into the vacant second slip region and ran for a four.
Finn Allen's 42-run knock off only 16 balls provided New Zealand a terrific start after Australia skipper Aaron Finch won the toss and opted to bowl first. But after the departure of Allen, New Zealand's scoring rate dipped. However, Conway eventually powered the side to a total of 200 with the help of his unbeaten 92 off 58 balls. Josh Hazlewood was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2 for 41 in four overs.
Australia vs New Zealand: New Zealand post 200 for 3 in 20 overs
A six from James Neesham to end the innings and New Zealand have posted 200 runs at the loss of three wickets in the stipulated 20 overs against Australia.
It was turning out to be a really good over from Mitchell Starc but Devon Conway hit a four on the final delivery to make it a 10-run over. Starc thus ends his quota of overs with figures of 0 for 36. The final over of the innings will be bowled by Josh Hazlewood.
Kane Williamson is gone! Adam Zampa gets his wicket. Williamson tried to go for a reverse sweep but missed the ball by a fair margin. Umpire raised his finger on the appeal, but Williamson still decided to go for a review and eventually wasted one. He departs for a run-a-ball 23.
Devon Conway races to fifty in 36 balls. It's his 7th half-century in the format in which he averages over 50. He understood his responsibilities really well after the departure of Finn Allen and kept New Zealand going despite fellow batter Kane Williamson finding it hard to get boundaries from the other end.
Australia vs New Zealand: A mini comeback for Australia!
Some good bowling from Australian bowlers has helped the side stop Kane Williamson and Devon Conway from scoring quick runs. The New Zealand skipper is 12 not out off 8 balls while Conway is 30 not out off 20 balls.
The first powerplay has ended. New Zealand scored 65 runs in it and lost the wicket of Finn Allen. No doubt, their score would have been much better, had Allen not departed, but still New Zealand are off to a really good start.
This is a superb improvisation from Devon Conway. He wanted to play a scoop shot but Pat Cummins bowled the ball outside off stump towards tramline. Conway adjusted and hit the ball through vacant third-man region for a four.
Finn Allen is gone! This is a big-big relief for Australia as the right-handed batter was taking the game away from them. Josh Hazlewood comes to the hosts' rescue with a yorker delivery. Allen wanted to take him on but missed the ball and got bowled. He departs after scoring 42 off only 16 balls.
Australia vs New Zealand: Australia opt to bowl first
Australia captain Aaron Finch has won the toss and opted to bowl first against New Zealand in the first game of the Super-12 stage. He has informed that Steve Smith, Aston Agar, Kane Richardson and Cameron Green have not been picked in the playing XI today.
Australia vs New Zealand: Meeting between the 2021 finalists
It is worth noting that it was New Zealand to whom Australia had handed an 8-wicket loss in the final of T20 World Cup last year to clinch their maiden world title in the format. The two teams are meeting again and New Zealand must be eyeing to avenge the loss.
