Sejwal breaks national record but misses semis at World C'ship
Sejwal broke another national record but still fell half second short of qualifying for the semis of 50m breaststroke event at the Swimming Championship.

Sandeep Sejwal broke yet another national record but still fell half a second short of qualifying for the semifinals of the 50m breaststroke event at the FINA World Swimming Championships in Rome, Italy.
Sejwal clocked 27.92sec beating his own national record of 28.65sec that he had set a few weeks ago in Germany.
The US-based Indian also came first in his heat but missed qualifying for the semi-finals by less than half a second (0.49sec), which is the closest an Indian swimmer has ever come to making it to the next round at the World level.
And the close miss can be attributed to a slow start as Sejwal had the second slowest start (0.84sec) compared to those who finished ahead of him.
The Delhi swimmer finished sixth among all the Asians and 38th out of 148 swimmers.
Tuesday's timing would place Sandeep in the Top 100 of the 2009 FINA World Rankings.
Meanwhile, Jayaprakash Agnishwar bettered another personal best in the same event - clocking a 29.32 (previously 29.90) and finishing 80th out of 148 swimmers.
