Virat Kohli's Young Guns Disappoint in Galle Test

Kohli slammed the batsmen for their poor performance on the fourth day, adding that India were unable to consolidate their position after forcing Sri Lanka onto the back foot during their second innings.

Chasing a 176-run target in their second innings, India were bundled out for 112 runs with Sri Lanka's left-arm spinner Rangana Herath claiming seven wickets at the Galle International Cricket Stadium. Ajinkya Rahane was India's top scorer in their second innings.

Rohit Sharma was preferred over Test specialist Cheteshwar Pujara but once again he failed to capitalise on the opportunity. Rohit scored 9 and 4 in his two innings at Galle.

Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan had hit centuries in India's first innings and would hope to replicate their form in the next two games as well. Sri Lanka have taken a 1-0 lead in the series. The second Test begins in Colombo on August 20. India last won a Test series in Lanka in 1993.
