India's most decorated wrestler Sushil Kumar became a father to twin boys on Sunday. His wife Savi gave birth to their children at a hospital in Delhi. The time of the births were recorded as 17:42 and 17:43. "I am very happy. God has been very kind to me. Two Olympic medals and now twins, I couldn't have asked for more," Sushil was quoted as saying by the Times of India. Sushil married Savi in February, 2011. Sushil recently confirmed his participation in the 74kg at the 2016 Olympics, putting to rest speculation that he wouldn't compete at the Rio de Janeiro Games. India's other medal hope in wrestling, Yogeshwar Dutt, will compete in the 65kg category to avoid a face-off against each other.
Thirty-year-old Sushil is a two-time Olympic champion, having won the silver medal at the 2012 London Games and bronze at the 2008 Beijing Games. He is aiming to go one step further and win gold in South America. After the birth of his twins, Sushil vowed to "work harder now for the Rio Olympics". Sushil's father-in-law and mentor Satpal Singh said the birth of his grandchildren was a time for celebration. "We are all elated. Everyone was in celebration mode at the hospital including the doctors and the staff," he said. "For the first time I saw tears in Sushil's eyes as he embraced the twins," Satpal added.
