While most boys his age are busy targeting high scores in academics, Arjun Vajpai has lofty dreams elsewhere - quite literally. The class 12 student who is the youngest Indian to scale Mount Everest is now all set to conquer Mount Makalu - a peak no Indian has managed to scale yet.
Makalu may be the fifth highest peak in the world but for Vajpai, 8481 meters is just a huge number which makes the challenge even more rivetting. And even at his young age, this student of Ryan International School (Noida) has the experience to do what only 23 climbers have done before him.
That he climbed Everest at the age of 16 years and 11 months only further shows that Vajpai has the right temprament to take on Makalu - an isolated peak on the border of Nepal and China.
The entitre duration of the expedition will be a gruelling 58 days starting from April 7 when the young climber will arrive in Kathmandu.
With two years' training at the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering to further boost his prospect, Vajpai will venture into the the high-altitude wilderness on April 10.
Success comes to the brave and this braveheart will surely look to add yet another feather in his cap, from Tumlingtar (938ft), in the weeks to follow.
