Kamal Chawla reached the pre-quarterfinals of the snooker singles event while the rest of the Indian cueists fell by the way side in the Asian Indoor Games, here on Thursday.
Chawla scored a facile 4-1 win over Qatar's Bukshaisha Mohson to enter the quarters of the biennial event.
However, there was disappointment in store elsewhere as Saurav Kothari went down 0-3 to Thailand's Praprut Chaithanasakun while Balachandra Bhaskar lost 1-3 to another Thai stalwart Thawat Sujaritthurakarn in the pre-quarters of the 100-up billiards competition.
In the women's 9-ball pool event, Neena Praveen lost 1-7 to Korea's Kim Gayoung in the pre-quarters after having beaten Singapore's Chai Zeet Huey 7-4 in the previous round.
Delhi-girl Keerath Bhandal also tasted defeat in her Round-of-32 match, losing 4-7 to Singaporean Hoe Shu Wah.
