From politicians to sporting greats, many Indian public figures showered accolades on para-athlete Deepa Malik, after the latter won the silver medal in the F-53 shotput event at the Rio Paralympic Games on Monday.
With Mariyappan Thangavelu and Varun Singh Bhati clinching the gold and bronze medals, respectively, in the T-42 high jump category, India completed its set of medals at the ongoing Paralympic Games.
Deepa Malik is the first female athlete from India to win a medal at the Paralympic Games. Following her silver-winning feat in Rio, PM Narendra Modi tweeted the following:
