Former India cricket captain Sourav Ganguly on Wednesday wished luck to his former-teammate Sachin Tendulkar after he accepted the Indian Olympic Association's (IOA) proposal to be one of the goodwill ambassadors for the country's contingent at the upcoming Rio Olympics.
"You got to leave some decision to the Indian Olympic Association (IOA). You keep on asking my opinion. I don't believe in giving opinion on everything. I wish them all the best," Ganguly told reporters here at an event.
The 43-year-old said Tendulkar had done wonders for the nation and hence the IOA was right in choosing him as the ambassador.
"Sachin has done wonders for India and that is why they have him on board," he said.
The IOA decided to invite the legendary cricketer and shooter Abhinav Bindra as goodwill ambassadors after the sporting fraternity was left divided with the appointment of actor Salman Khan. Legend Milkha Singh and wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt took to social media to express their disapproval.
Ganguly, however, had earlier said that Salman would add glamour and bring visibility to the mega event.
"I am fine with Salman being appointed as the ambassador as he can bring visibility and glamour quotient to anything," Ganguly had said.
