New Zealand defeated India by 10 wickets in the first match to register their 100th win in Test cricket.

Tim Southee picked up his 10th five-wicket haul in Test cricket to setup an easy win for New Zealand. Southee was adjudged player of the match as he returned with figures of nine for 110 in the match.
Tom Blundell and Tom Latham took just 10 deliveries to chase down the nine-run target to help New Zealand take a 1-0 lead in the two-Test series.
