Third win in three games for Rajasthan Royals. They rise to the top spot in the IPL 2026 points table. The Royals finished 9th in 2025, but under Riyan Parag, they look like a unit that can challenge for the trophy in 2026.

RR have also had some standout individual performers. Yashasvi Jaiswal currently holds the Orange Cap, while Ravi Bishnoi has the Purple Cap.

Jofra Archer strikes! Huge wicket for Rajasthan Royals on the final ball of the first over. Rickelton smashed a maximum over mid-wicket on the penultimate ball of the over, looked to go big again but miscued it. The ball went really high up, but wicket-keeper Dhruv Jurel takes a great catch.

Some great news after nearly a three-hour rain delay!

Great news! The players are now out on the pitch and have begun their pre-match warm-ups. Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Riyan Parag and co. are out there doing their drills.

"The urgency to remove the cover with the water still on it has now led to patches of puddle all over the ground," reports Cricbuzz. This could lead to a delay in clearing the ground, and therefore, a delay in getting the match underway. The supersoppers are also working.

According to reports, the rain has eased at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, almost to the point of stopping. A loud cheer from the crowd as the groundsmen take off some of the covers. 

The cut-off time for a 5-over game is 10:56 PM local time. That is just over two hours from now. Overs will start getting reduced from 8:40 PM IST.

Rain update: The groundstaff are still at work, but the rain is persistent.

Two supersoppers are working on the pitch at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati, despite drizzle persisting. The BCCI chief curator and ACA curator are reportedly having a conversation as the rain continues to pour.

According to reports, the rain has intensified in Guwahati. The supersoppers were hard at work, but the on-and-off rain isn't helping the situation. Fingers crossed the weather improves for good soon.

Bad news - the rain is back at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. However, according to reports, the entire ground isn't under covers, only the square near the pitch has been kept protected.

Cameras pan to Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who is sat in the dugout with crossed arms, watching on helplessly as the weather worsens.

According to reports, the covers are being taken off at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. The players are out on the pitch. The drizzle appears to have stopped. The groundstaff are at work to improve the ground condition. This is really positive news.

Interesting development here: The rain looks to have eased a fair bit, and some of the Rajasthan Royals players, including skipper Riyan Parag, have made their way onto the pitch to inspect the conditions and speak to the officials.

In its statement on X, the IPL confirms that the next update will follow only when the rain stops. Let's hope we are not too far away from that.

According to AccuWeather, the rain threat has increased during the match hours. Earlier showing 0% between 7 PM and 10 PM, there is now close to 50% chance of rain in the same time period. Worrying. There is also an Orange Alert for Hailstorm.

The official Mumbai Indians X account has posted an update, confirming that there is a slight drizzle and the covers are on. The weather has prevented the players from doing their pre-match warmups.

The signs point to Pandya potentially returning to MI's lineup after missing their previous game.

Mumbai Indians began their campaign with a good victory over Kolkata Knight Riders at home, but slumped to defeat in their second game against Delhi Capitals away. It is another away match for the five-time champions today, but they'll be hoping to bounce back to winning ways.

Rajasthan Royals have begun IPL 2026 on a terrific note. They thoroughly outclassed Chennai Super Kings in their opening game, before holding their nerves to seal a narrow win over Gujarat Titans in their second match. For new captain Riyan Parag, it has been the ideal start.
