The BCCI and the IPL governing council postponed IPL 2021 indefinitely due to a surge in the coronavirus cases in the country.

The decision to adjourn IPL indefinitely was taken on May 4 when a total of four IPL players were confirmed to have tested positive along with several members of the team staff as well as the ground staff.

Kolkata Knight Riders' (KKR) Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier, Delhi Capitals'(DC) Amit Mishra and SunRisers Hyderabad's (SRH) Wriddhiman Saha were the players who were test positive for COVID-19.

Chennai Super Kings' (CSK) Mike Hussey and Lakshmipathy Balaji were two support staff members who tested positive.
