After electing to bat, Sunrisers Hyderabad got off to a breezy start as David Warner and Shikhar Dhawan shared a 63-run partnership for the first wicket before Chahal struck to get rid off the latter. Warner continued the fireworks and brought up his ninth fifty of the season. Royal Challengers Bangalore then took quick wickets to make their way back in the game but that didn't last long as Yuvraj Singh's 38 and Ben Cutting's late blows pushed them past 200. In reply, Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli put on a 114-run stand for the first wicket in first 11 overs to put RCB on course in chase. But as soon as both fell (after completing their fifties), the team lost the plot as some good bowling from Cutting, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mustafizur Rahman towards the end helped SRH clinch their maiden Indian Premier League title. Catch all the highlights of this match here.
00:35 hrs IST: That's it. Thank you for tuning in. Until next time, it's goodbye. Cheers!Â
David Warner (SRH skipper): "Fantastic team achievement. To lead this side and the support from the players, me pulling my weight with the runs, it has been a hard journey. It's a team effort. To have the perfect game, we need to gel. For us, the key was team effort all the way. Look we knew, we had to get 200. Virat Kohli, what a great leader! I can't take it away from him. He set the benchmark this season."Â
Virat Kohli (Man of the Tournament): "I am really proud of the way we played this evening. The support was great from the crowd. I feel gutted that we didn't do it for them. Me and AB getting out quickly was a big blow. Had I stayed with AB, we could have finished it. I just want to congratulate the Sunrisers. They deserved to win."
Virat Kohli wins the 'Orange Cap' while Bhuvneshwar Kumar takes the 'Purple Cap'.Â
Mustafizur Rahman is the Emerging Player of 2016 Indian Premier League.Â
Ben Cutting (Man of the Match): "It was exciting to play in front of a big crowd. David Warner has set it up, like he has done all season. We won't be standing here, if not for Warner. Bhuvi with the purple cap has been fantastic all season. That's the thing about Bangalore. You can go the journey as the batsman and bowler."
Shikhar Dhawan: "It has been a great season for me and the team. Warner lead from the front from the first game. It has been a great journey. I feel our team is balanced. As the tournament went ahead, we put big runs on the board. Cutting played just two or three matches, but performed well."
Bhuvneshwar Kumar:Â "I had to keep myself composed. I knew if I get it right, it will be difficult to score runs. Yorkers are the best way to stop runs. He just asked me to stay calm and composed."Â
Yuvraj Singh: "It was a great performance from the team. We came back strongly. Bhuvi and fizz, great finish in the end. As long as the trophy comes, I don't mind injuries, it is a great effort."
Ben Cutting: "It was good to get out there and swing a few for the boys. It is an unbelievable feeling. First to get a game and win it for the boys."
