The disputes have been resolved and he's back in the team that is to tour India next month. And that's definitely problem in the offing for MS Dhoni & Co. In just over a month from now when he takes guard in Ahmedabad for the first Test, KP will surely be one of England's main weapon if they are to thwart India on home pitches.
But what it that means is a super-battle on the cards as the classy batsman takes on the Indian spin attack. His record in the sub-continent, of course, speak volumes of his calibre.
For the past two and half months, Pietersen was amidst a tussle that involved English players, the board officials and even South African players. In between which, he was also seen as an expert commentator during the World T20 in Sri Lanka.
But, apologies followed. And now it's all hail-and-hearty in the England camp. In reality, ECB also realized that KP is one of the best bets they have against a side that's seeking revenge. The message is clear that England needs KP in the subcontinent. He lit up the Lankan shores early this year and his 62 plus batting average against India shows just how important he is to the side.
Naturally, Pietersen is a happy man these days. "BOOOOOOOOM!! The happiest days of my career have been playing cricket for England. Long may that continue! Thanks everyone for your kind words," KP tweeted after getting the news of his inclusion.
In India he averages just above 40 and 5 of his 21 Test hundreds have come against the men in blue. No wonder then that Dhoni would have liked to face a KP-less English side.
While Chris Gayle stamped his return to the West Indies team in Gangnam style, KP, the man of the tournament at the 2010 World T20, was sorely missed by England . And it will be interesting to see whether KP too Gangnams his way back with his teammates in India.
Kevin Pietersen returns: Good news for England, not so much for India
