Hadik Pandya picked up two wickets in the final over, which helped India sneak past Bangladesh by one run in a nailbiting finish in the ICC World T20 Super 10s clash in Bengaluru on Wednesday.
Bangladesh, requring 11 runs from the final over, took a giant step towards the most unlikeliest of wins when Mushfiqur Rahim hit consecutive boundaries off Pandya.
However, Pandya came back strongly as he dismissed Mushfiqur, who he hit one straight to Shikhar Dhawan at deep midwicket. Mahmudullah, who had been Bangladesh's player in form went for an ambitious shot, only to be caught by a diving Ravindra Jadeja at deep midwicket.
Pandya then bowled a wide delivery to Shuvagata Hom, who failed to connect and Dhoni was quick to run up to the stumps and run out Mustafizur Rahman to keep India's hopes alive of reaching the semi-finals.
Earlier, put into bat first, Indian batsmen struggled on a sluggish wicket and could only manage 146/7. Tamim Iqbal started off Bangladesh's chase in fine fashion, before Ravichandran Ashwin struck to give India hope. Ashwin finshed with figures of 2/20, while Ravindra Jadeja picked up 2/29 to peg the Bangla Tigers back in the chase.
