Bangladesh stifled Netherlands batsmen as they secured an eight-run win in the first round of T20 World Cup 2016 in Dharamsala. (Scorecard)
Tamim Iqbal was the star of the show as he scored a brisk 58-ball 83, which helped Bangladesh post 153/7. The bowlers then restricted Netherlands to 145/7 at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium.Â
However, Bangladesh struggled in the mid overs as Netherlands bowlers led by Timm van der Gugten managed to keep a tight hold over their scoring rate.
Bangladesh should be the favourites heading into the game, with the likes of Mashrafe Mortaza, Taskin Ahmed all in form. With the bat, Tamim Iqbal and Somuya Sarkar have been amongst the runs as well.
Netherlands, on the other hand, will look to Stephan Myburgh, the Cooper brothers and captain Peter Borren to cause an upset against their superior opponent.Â
Netherlands and Bangladesh have faced each other twice in Twent20 matches, with both of them registering one win each.

That's all from this game but don't go anywhere as we have another game coming up in a short while. It will be Oman vs Ireland. Do join us for that.

PETER BORREN says the two places where they lost the game was right at the end of their bowling innings and the same time when they were batting. Appreciates the efforts of van Meekeren for his efforts. Ends by saying they (Bangladesh) hit 6 sixes and they could hit only one, which was also a major difference.

MASHRAFE MORTAZA says they (Dutch) were in a good position even after 14 overs but his team picked up two quick wickets and that shifted the momentum back. Adds the last over is always difficult to bowl but appreciates Taskin's bowling in the death overs. Ends by saying he was sure Taskin will bowl at least 5 yorkers in the last over.

TAMIM IQBAL is the Man of the Match. Says that he has played well in the domestic circuit and has worked out a way on how to bat and how to be calm and tries not to push too hard. Thinks that Netherlands bowled decent lines and lengths and that they were 15 runs short. Adds that Taskin bowled well to help them win and it was unbelievable. Ends saying that it was tough but an important game for them.

It was Tamim Iqbal who made all the difference today for the Bangla Tigers. He batted with precision and intent and stood out till the end to power his team to a competitive total. Though they fell a few runs short, the Bangladeshi bowling took them home. It's not too late for Netherlands and they will be upbeat despite narrowly losing out today.

Netherlands tried hard but couldn't really get going. A big innings was required but their batsmen failed to shoulder the responsibilities. Myburg and Borren looked well but fell on important junctures to add to the pressure. A mere 8-run but Bangladesh will be happy after opening their account.

What a match we have had! Bangladesh have managed to cross the line after a bit of a scare from the Dutch. On the back of a good show by the ball, they have defended a good total put up by their batsmen. Shakib was the pick of the bowlers with good support from Al-Amin as they picked up 2 wickets apiece.
