David Ferrer of Spain reached the last 16 at the French Open on Saturday with a 6-0, 6-2, 6-2 win over Mikhail Youzhny of Russia.
The sixth seed will play the winner of the tie between Paul-Henri Mathieu of France and Marcel Granollers of Spain for a place in the quarter-finals.
Czech fourth seed Petra Kvitova defeated Russia's world number 109 Nina Bratchikova 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 on Saturday to reach the French Open last 16.
Kvitova will face either 2010 champion Francesca Schiavone of Italy or unseeded American Varvara Lepchenko for a place in the quarter-finals.
