Singapore Grand Prix is like a Hollywood movie: McLaren boss

While the Formula One battle rages on for McLaren who try to close the gap against Red Bull and create a wider gap ahead of third-placed Ferrari, boss Martin Whitmarsh sees this week's race in Singapore Grand Prix as a 'Hollywood movie'.

In a report published in an Irish website Independent, Whitmarsh has been quoted as praising the Marina Bay Street Circuit and comparing it to a movie setting. "The  fusion of its oriental setting, glittering skyline and demanding high-speed course make it feel more like you're watching a Hollywood movie than an international sport, and that's fantastic," he said ahead of the race on Sunday. "It is one of the most important events of the year for fans, guests and teams alike. The Marina Bay circuit's unique night-time atmosphere, and the crackling tension that comes from staging a grand prix on the edge of darkness, makes it one of the best races of the season."

His team is on an upward swing with three successive wins and Whitmarsh has admitted that the momentum is with Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button.

While there were talks of Hamilton opting out of the team next year, the Briton told NDTV earlier this week that his entire focus is on securing a win in the ongoing season. (I want to win this season: Lewis Hamilton)

And Whitmarsh and his team is busy improving the car. "Both Jenson and Lewis' recent performances have given our engineers and designers the conviction to keep pushing development through the season. Make no mistake, this season is far from over, so there'll be no let-up with the aggressive development of the car until the end of the year," he was quoted by the same report as saying.
