A popular song from a Dave Matthews Band praises American women. "I (I) hold (hold) on (on) to you. You bring me hope, I'll see you soon. And if I don't see you. I'm afraid we've lost the way."

The grid girls though are sure to ensure nobody loses their way at the Circuit of the Americas.

Since F1 returned to the American continent after a four-year break - in 2012, the girls have been an integral part of the race here.

Dressed in white, they looked absolutely stunning.

According to a CNN report last year, the grid girls wake up early to perfect their walk and look. "I've been waking up at about four o'clock in the morning," one girl was quoted as saying by the report. "The drivers probably get to sleep in and wait for their crew to get their stuff together. But it's worth it -- beauty is pain!"

Obviously then, the job of a grid girl is not just to smile and pose but a lot more.
