Indian GP: Meet the Grid Girls

They add glamour to Formula 1 and races around the world feature them. And so did India. Say hello to the Indian Formula 1 Grid Girls. (AFP Photos)

Chosen from a contest organised in the run-up to the Indian Grand Prix, these women added a lot of cheer to the race.

Overall conduct, appearance and walking style, needless to say, are given top-priority.

They were as much of the attraction for mediapersons from around the world as they were for the spectators here. This holds true for races all over.

Grid girls get set to take the track before the inaugural Indian Grand Prix.

The Indian flag was prominently displayed by these women. A sign of India's blend of culture, beauty and modernity, perhaps.

These were not the official race grid girls but are the Force India team models. No one was found complaining though.

Some of the fans could give stiff competition to the grid girls and models here though. Fans of Felipe Massa are seen here though they couldn't be after his accident in the race.

It has to be an experience of a lifetime for the grid girls though, to be part of the race. For the women in the picture here, it would be more special as they were part of the first-ever.
